Your Cold Weather Checklist

Author Image Admin  -   03:00 pm  -   September 17th, 2025

The leaves will soon be changing color, the kids are back at the school bus stop, and the Eagles have taken the field (Go, Birds!). Pretty soon, those boilers, furnaces and heat pumps will be humming! And, so we thought this would be a good time to help you prepare for the heating season with our cold weather checklist.

5 Tips to Prepare You for Fall!

  1. Schedule a tune-up: If you haven’t already scheduled your tune-up, now is a great time! After all, the last thing you need during a freezing winter day is for your heating system to break down! A tune-up will allow our technicians to clean, test, and examine important parts of your heating equipment to ensure that it performs its very best this fall and winter.

  2. Upgrade your heating system: If you truly feel that your heating equipment is on its last legs, please don’t hesitate to call us! Reit Energy Co. installs high-efficiency heating systems from leading brands like Heil, Bryant, Trane, Peerless, Bradford White, Weil-McLain, and many more.
Important reminder: Since federal tax credits for energy-efficient heating equipment upgrades expire on December 31, 2025, you may want to talk to us about an upgrade sooner rather than later.

  3. Enroll in one of our maintenance plans: We offer two maintenance plans, Silver and Gold, which provide comprehensive coverage, annual tune-ups, and year-round peace of mind. Our heating system plans cover oil and gas equipment (boilers and furnaces), heat pumps, and water heaters.

  4. Schedule a heating oil delivery: Having a full tank of oil at the beginning of autumn will guarantee that your house is ready for any changes in weather. We encourage all our customers to enroll in our automatic delivery service, so you’ll never have to monitor your tank levels or call for deliveries again!

  5. Seal doors and windows: September is a great time to check around your doors and windows for gaps and drafts, and take action! To seal doors and windows for winter, apply weatherstripping and caulk around frames to fill gaps, install a door sweep at the bottom of exterior doors, and use window insulation kits or heavy curtains for added window insulation. For a quick fix, use a rolled-up towel to block cold air from doors.

By taking the time to prepare your Bucks County home for the heating season ahead, you could save energy and money, and possibly some major headaches. For more information, please contact us.
